The Interior Health Authority is a designated agency under the Adult Guardianship Legislation and responds to reports of abuse, neglect or self-neglect of adults unable to seek assistance on their own. Community Care offers support and assistance to seniors and persons with disabilities. When a report of abuse or neglect is received a nurse or a counselor will look into the concerns in a sensitive and confidential manner. In order to offer the most effective but least intrusive support to a person experiencing abuse, Community Care collaborates with other service, with community groups and with the police as appropriate.
